Weekend Anchor/Reporter

WFXG FOX54 is currently looking for a weekend anchor/reporter to seek, develop and present new stories that are meaningful and engaging to our viewers.

 Duties Include:
• Perform quality work within deadlines with or without direct supervision.
• Interact professionally with other employees, viewers, customers and community members
• Work effectively as a team contributor on all assignments.
• Work independently while understanding the necessity for communicating and coordinating work efforts with other
employees and organizations.

ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS
• Anchor/produce weekend newscasts and report on other days as assigned.
• Develop and produce stories for air, web, and social media platforms as assigned by Producer or News management for newscasts, specials, and special projects
• Report live from the field or studio as assigned by Producer or News management
• Travel as necessary in the execution of assigned duties
• Work independently with excellent editorial judgement
• Publish news stories to WFXG.com and social media multiple times each day
• Drive station vehicles and travel long distances as assigned
• Select, write, produce, edit and presents news, weather and sports stories for newscasts
• Create a fast-paced, visually stimulating and well written newscast that follows WFXG News Brand
• Excellent communication skills, both oral and written
• Ability to meet deadlines, prioritize assignments and handle multiple tasks simultaneously
• Utilize social media and website to reinforce brand recognition and drive viewership
• Support and champion the WFXG news brand within the station and in the public

QUALIFICATIONS AND EDUCATION REQUIREMENTS
• Producing knowledge preferred
• Ability to work independently and have strong editorial judgement
• Pleasant and engaging in appearance and demeanor
• High School graduate, college degree in Broadcast Journalism, Mass Communications or English preferred
• Must have positive demeanor and the ability to work well with others and contribute daily
• Must have a valid driver’s license and a driving record compliant with our Vehicle Safety Policy.
 
Must be a strong writer and copy editor with excellent editorial judgment, time management and multi-tasking skills, and the ability to prioritize and re-prioritize quickly.
